The User Interface Engineer for QualysGuard on demand security service will be responsible for helping to both design and code a dynamic interface with rich user interaction capabilities.  We are looking for someone with an eye towards the future of web applications and where front end development is going; someone well versed in designing usable interfaces for large data sets and someone who has a real passion in advocating for the user.

 

As the UI Engineer will have two primary responsibilities:Working with the software developers to code the front-end.  You will need to have a strong commitment to web standards, a familiarity with microformats, as well as an understanding of how to develop features using progressive enhancements so they degrade gracefully.  You should also posses an understanding of the challenges of creating a rich web application that adheres to Section 508 standards. Helping design and define new features as they are added to the suite of Qualys products.  You will need to understand UCD methodologies, task analysis, HCI and good design principles (designing with grids, gestalt laws of perception, etc) in order to come up with wire-frame or Photoshop mock-ups, HTML prototypes, and flow diagrams.

 

Responsibilities

 

- Create high quality, production ready HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from Photoshop mock-ups

- Develop cutting edge highly interactive interfaces with AJAX and DOM manipulation

- Assist the engineering team in updating and maintaining standards-based HTML & CSS throughout the product

- Working with Product Management in turning feature requests into functional specs, workflow diagrams, and mock-ups

 

Qualifications

 

- 3-5 years of front end developing experience with rich internet or client-side applications with a strong focus on Web 2.0, Ajax, and DOM manipulation

- Ability to build pixel perfect versions of Photoshop designs in HTML & CSS in cross browser/cross platform environments

- Expert at coding web-based interfaces within Section 508 and WAI guidelines

- Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and hand-coding HTML/CSS

- Expert in JavaScript and DOM manipulation

- Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, comfortable following direction, thrive in multidisciplinary teams, and able to meet short deadlines

- Able to produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
