Technical Site Manager
For over 50 years, the BBN name has been synonymous with technological innovation. We also designed, built and operated the Defense Data Network. Today at BBN, some of the same scientists involved in those projects are working with the brilliant young graduates of the country's top technical schools to pioneer new innovations. **Active DoD Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI clearance highly desirable.**BBN's Sensor Systems Business Unit solves challenging problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and Industry by rapidly prototyping systems for sensing complex physical phenomena, correlating them to events of interest, and producing high-value, actionable information from the sensed data. The Business Unit specializes in delivering networked sensor system solutions by combining a strong understanding of the underlying physics, high-fidelity modeling and simulation of complex signature and propagation phenomena, deep expertise in signal processing and computer science, proven capabilities in system development, and mature tools to enable rapid design cycles from theory to demonstration. With approximately 100 staff located in the Cambridge, MA, Newport, RI and Arlington, VA offices, this group enjoys proximity to customers and major universities as well as an impressive array of specialized testing and laboratory facilities. The total Business Unit annual revenue is approximately $35M. We are currently searching for a highly qualified Program Director for the Sensor Systems Business Unit in the role of Deputy Business Unit Manager and Site Manager for our team in Arlington, VA. The Deputy Business Unit Manager reports directly to the Vice President, Sensor Systems and will work with the Vice President to meet the financial and operational goals of the Business Unit established with Executive Management. The Deputy Business Unit Manager will assist the Vice President in the operation of the Business Unit in matters of business development, creating business strategies, customer interaction, budgets, recruiting, developing and retaining staff, program review and collaboration with other BBN Business Units and departments. Specific responsibilities of the Deputy Business Unit manager include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.* Meeting the Business Unit budget established in conjunction with Executive Management.* Working with the Vice President in creating and developing business and/or marketing strategies that will result in revenue and profit growth.* Implementing and executing the strategies. * Directing, monitoring, initiating and participating in customer contacts. * Fostering technology innovation and the development of intellectual property with value to the corporation. * Working with the Vice President to plan the resources required to meet the objectives of the Business Unit.As Site Manager of the Arlington office, this individual is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the team in Arlington. The Site Manager in Arlington shares the responsibility with the Site Managers in Cambridge and Newport for the growth and profitability of the Sensor Systems Business Unit. The Site Managers share responsibility for meeting the financial and operational goals established with the Vice President and Executive Management. The Site Managers have responsibility for sales, contract performance, technical innovation, resource planning, and staff management at their respective locations.
