Team Lead Networking

Role Description :

The Team Leader of the Networking group is responsible for the maintenance, design and support of the Netlink and it customers networks. This includes all LANs, WANs, firewalls,building and campus wireless, as well as intrusion detection.  They will provide daily management and prioritization of activities for the Network group, as well as provide feedback to the team members on performance and training requirements.  Work with other infrastructure and application groups in support of Netlink.

 Key Responsibilities   



§  Provide support for all networks and security systems in Netlink

§  Provide proactive improvement and technical upgrades to the network

§  Installation, programming and support of switches

§  Install and support of wireless access points

§  Install and support of campus wireless

§  Implement monitoring of the network, using automated tools to generate alerts

§  Ensure network performance targets are met and that service levels to users are respected

§  Provide after-hours support as needed

§  Travel requirement: ~ 30%

 

Results/Accountabilities

§  Ensure network uptime is 99.5%

§  Ensure network documentation is available and up to date

§  Ensure deadlines and budgets for implementation projects are met

§  Work with the Service Delivery & Performance department to ensure SLAs are met both internally and from vendors

§  Be the point of escalation for all networking issues Relationships with Others Jobs:

 

§  Works in conjunction with all infrastructure groups

§  Heavy interaction with the End User Services group

 

Education and Work Experience:

Education and Work Experience:

§  Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field

§  Minimum 5 years of experience implementing complex LAN/WAN networks

§  Minimum 5 years of experience with firewalls and intrusion detection systems

§  Minimum 5 years of experience with wireless technologies

§  Minimum 5 years of experience with network diagnostic tools

§  Experience in leading people and projects

§  6 plus years of experience in supporting network and IT environments

 

Knowledge and Skills:

§  Cisco Catalyst switches

§  Checkpoint firewall programming and configuration

§  Layer III switch programming

§  Knowledge of network routing

§  Proven leadership skills

§  Strong interpersonal skills

§  Strong analytical and problem solving skills

§  Self-driven, self-motivated, results-oriented, customer service oriented and an effective team player.
