Systems/Network Engineer
Job Purpose:
Provide technical support related to the administrative computing environment and central station equipment including and not limited to computer applications, video, voice, servers, workstations, laptops, central station receivers, and central station communications.Â
Duties:
* Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
* Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
* Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
* Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
* Carry a cell phone or pager and provide 24/7 support.
Skills/Qualifications:
Associates degree in computer science or related program, four years experience in an information technology position, four years experience with Microsoft Windows, Active Directory administration, networking (routers, layer 3 switches, firewalls) Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Exchange, Veritas backup software, DNS, DHCP, and webservers, four years hands-on experience with various server/workstation hardware and repair, experience in a central station environment and/or Avaya PBX - Audix messaging a plus.
