Systems Administrator V with an Active TS/SCI Clearance

Position is a full-time permanent position performing on the floor services (Customer Support Organization - CSO) in support on the Aeronautical Migration System (AMS) system at NGA.  The Senior Systems Engineer provides system support and engineering services as well as system administration support as part of NGA’s IT/IS Legacy Systems Customer Support Department.  This position will be at NGA-St. Louis, but also serve as a backup for the AMS at NGA-Arnold depending on specific conditions supporting the customer.  Depending on customer requirements/conditions, shift work, weekend work and/or overtime may be required. 

 

Duties and qualifications, identifying both essential and marginal duties:

Candidate should have excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills and be able to blend knowledge and skills within a team structure.  Candidate should be a self-starter requiring little or no supervision (but reports to a group leader) with a working knowledge of various Windows Operating Systems (Workstation & Server, NT, XP, 2003).  Also, candidate would be required to become knowledgeable on the various application software packages (such as Microstation and ArcGIS) that make up the AMS configuration and Database experience (SYBASE).  Candidate must be able to interface with Software Maintenance Organization and Configuration Management to aid in determining fixes to existing problems and for the necessary installation of those fixes.  CompTIA Security+ would be a plus, but at this time not a requirement.

 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:  Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.  Performs system backups and recovery, maintains data files/databases and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to communicate with customers via computer and phone in a clear and concise manner.  Visual acuity – working many hours on a computer.

 

Education, Skill, and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or 5 – 8 years of equivalent experience required.  Strong customer service and team skills, proven customer interaction and customer support experience, working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems on the actual AMS, as well as NGA’s Service Center for tracking PRs, ISRs, RSRs, and Trouble Tickets. Must have current DoD TS/SCI Security clearance and ability to receive specific NGA accesses required for position.
