Systems Administrator

SUMMARY

Provide daily system support and troubleshooting for the suite of Microsoft PC's and servers. The System Administrator is expected to have a thorough technical knowledge of his/her systems and be capable of executing independent and team tasks as assigned. He/she must be a team player and willing to share knowledge with other individuals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following (other duties may be assigned):· Technical Support for the systems including responding to Help Desk tickets and working with users to resolve issues.· Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.· Keep users informed as to the status of open problems.· Diagnose and resolves difficult problems in hardware, applications, and operating systems and escalates complex problems to next level of support as appropriate.· Perform system imaging for end user PC's.· Installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services including personal computers, software applications, printers, servers, switches, phones, etc.· Establishes and maintains network users, directories, security, and access permissions.· Implements scheduled backups of critical systems.· Monitor servers and automated backup system health and performance.· Investigate problems and work with vendor support to find solutions. · Maintain system security and patch levels.· Perform server builds, upgrades, performance tuning, data recovery, hot/cold backups, performance and functional testing.· Install various hardware and software components.· Provide technical input for policies and procedures.· Develop and maintain accurate documentation for servers.· Adhere to Change Management procedures and policies.· Researches and investigates problems and develops viable solutions; reports recommendations clearly and effectively to the team. · Coordinates activities with other Information Technology members.· Respond to outages both during business hours and in an after-hours on-call capacity. QUALIFICATIONS

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree or equivalent with minimum of 4 years experience, or 5 years minimum experience as a systems administrator with increasing duties and responsibilities.

 COMPUTER APPLICATION AND OTHER SKILLS

Ability to use the computer with knowledge of the following computer applications Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Office Suite 2000/2003 and Adobe Acrobat with training on additional software as needed in the job position.
