Server Operations is looking for an experienced Unix systems administrator with five years in-depth experience managing Solaris, AIX or Linux servers in a large corporate environment. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of Unix filesystems, security, process and memory management, and networking. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an eagerness to learn, a passion for system administration and the ability to develop creative solutions to provide server support across the enterprise. The candidate will primarily be involved in Solaris support with moderate AIX and Linux duties.



Primary Responsibilities

1) Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting server upgrades, configuration changes, and patches.

2) Promoting server changes into development and production environments through a structured change control process.

3) Providing 2nd and 3rd level Unix server technical support to internal IT groups

4) Participate in an on-call rotation and assist with 1st level hotline support as necessary.

5) Participating in customer projects. Steps include gathering customer requirements, evaluating hardware and software, composing written project recommendations, finalizing technology agreements with customers and preparing bills-of-material.

1) System Administration-UNIX - Expert with 5 year(s) experience.

Primary O/S expertise in Solaris with exposure to AIX & Linux

2) Configuring, installing, and supporting servers in a large distributed LAN/MAN/WAN environment. - Expert with 5 year(s) experience.

3) Experience with and knowledge of TCP/IP configuration and related protocols - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience.

4) Troubleshooting application performance and systems tuning on Unix servers. - Intermediate with 5 year(s) experience.

5) Evaluation of hardware and software technologies and preparing formal recommendations. - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience.



Preferred Technical Skills

1) Experience with shell, Perl and/or Python scripting. - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience.

2) Experience with virtualization technologies and server consolidation. - Intermediate with 2 year(s) experience.

3) Experience with AIX and Linux. - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience.
