Support Technician

Modis is one of the world's largest and most respected providers of Information Technology Resource Management (ITRM) services and solutions.  Today, Modis delivers world-class ITRM solutions to over 2,000 clients in the United States, Canada, and Europe.  Currently, we are looking for a Support Technician for a contract to hire position with one of our clients in the Washington, DC area.  If interested in the job description please apply through Monster. Support Technician Note: This job requires shift work and may include night work or weekend work depending on shift.   Monitor production applications, servers, and network using a combination of monitoring tools to ensure availability. Respond to automated alerts from monitoring tools according to procedure. Use diagnostic tools to ascertain level and criticality of problem. Discover faults and conditions in a proactive manner. Diagnose cause where appropriate and resolve expeditiously Escalate issues and problems according to procedures and best judgment Make accurate entries in shift logs of all events, issues, responses, and resolutions. Perform periodic health checks of systems and applications Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner Use judgment and knowledge of networking, systems, and applications to identify problems as they occur and decide on best course of action to resolve Diagnose problems and resolve in an expeditious manner Work with engineers to resolve production problems Write detailed, accurate reports on production incidents and problems Run backup jobs and resolve issues expeditiously Apply server patches and perform other maintenance activities as required.  Required Knowledge & Experience Four years experience in a production operations environment administering Windows –based serversTwo years experience administering Dell server hardware Experience using a ticketing system such as Remedy or Siebel preferredExperience with Veritas Netbackup backup software and Qualstar backup hardwareKnowledge of BMC Patrol or equivalent enterprise monitoring toolsKnowledge of Control-M or similar job scheduling software preferred Able to work with minimal supervisionKnowledge of TCP/IP networks and troubleshooting toolsFamiliarity with Solaris-based servers and Sun hardware a plusGood written and verbal communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Office products. Required credentials  Â· Two Year degree in a computer-related field. · A+, MCSE, CCNA certifications or equivalents preferred   Job Reference Code: kb suptech Company: Modis, Inc.
