Job Responsibilities:
Perform daily administration and support of RedHat Linux servers and SAN which utilizes EMC storage and Brocade switches. Includes hardware and software installation/upgrade, shell scripting, system performance monitoring, system sizing, capacity planning, system integration, and hardware diagnostics.
Perform root cause analysis for issues/problems and create preventative measures. Interfaces with vendor support groups and other departments to ensure proper escalation and coordination towards problem resolution
Monitor performance of oracle databases running on Linux and making appropriate tuning changes to achieve optimal performance.
Participates in defining technical architecture for Linux servers and storage solutions.
Work closely with the applications development and database administration teams, guiding developers in best practices related to using the underlying LINUX infrastructure and assisting them in resolving application and performance problems.
Utilize Red Hat entitlement server for patch management.
Perform monitoring, capacity planning and schedule preventive maintenance for Data Center environments (HVAC, UPS, Security)
Provide 7x24 on-call troubleshooting and problem resolution
Create and maintain detailed documentation and technical drawings of the server infrastructure.
Establish and document hardware and software standards.
Develops, publishes, and maintains documentation related to projects, hardware and software configuration
Position Requirements:
3-5 years experience working with RedHat Linux
Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies. 3-5 years experience working with EMC storage and Brocade switches.
Experience utilizing SNMP and HP Sitescope for monitoring.
Proven experience in scripting skills in Shell and/or Perl.
Solid understanding of various data center power and mechanical HVAC systems. Experience in capacity planning along with coordinating the preventative maintenance and repairs to the electrical and HVAC systems.
Ability to utilize knowledge in server and storage vendor landscape to make technology recommendations that solve business requirements.
Experience installing/moving hardware along with diagnosing and isolating system level hardware and software issues.
Experience working with PCI standards.
Experience working in large data centers running highly available web applications with established metrics to measure SLA's
Ability to understand business requirements and translate those to technical requirements
Strong communication, documentation, teamwork, and relationship-building skills. Ability to communicate to technical staff (applications development and technical services) and management.
Results driven.
Ability to lead projects through full lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, test, documentation and implementation.
Willingness to work beyond core business hours, if necessary to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned system modifications.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
Candidates must have a BA in Computer Science or related field
Candidates must have a BA in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to include a minimum of 7 years of IT experience related Network technology.

Desirable Skills:
Experience supporting Oracle databases, 11i Application suite, Oracle application server or RAC in a Linux environment
Experience supporting firewalls, load balancers, web servers, etc.
Experience installing and supporting Veritas NetBackup/ BackupExec along with CA ARCserve.
