Sr. Presales Specialist - IBM System x and Storage

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Product Specialist to provide pre-sales support for IBM System x and IBM and NetApp Storage solutions. This role will cover the Northeast United States, and could be based out of the NYC metro area, Philadelphia, or any major metro city between these 2 areas.
In this role, you will provide technical support for IBM products to assist the sales team in the closing of sales. Duties will include evaluating customer business needs and offering recommendations, and delivering customized demonstrations that result in high levels of prospect confidence in Sirius' ability to provide information systems solutions. In this role you may also serve as a mentor to other Product Specialists.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Using advanced technical knowledge of IBM products and competitive products, provide training/consulting to both sales team and customers.
Designs product configurations for solutions requirements.
Develops and delivers professional and effective sales demonstrations of IBM products by:
Assists sales team in prospect-generated RFIs (Requests for Information).
Conducting prospect site surveys to further define prospect companies' information System requirements. This activity may involve interviewing prospects' CEOs, COOs, CFOs, and other upper and mid-management personnel.
Using data generated from site surveys, identifies prospects' product requirements and prepares solution documents/presentation.
In conjunction with other members of the sales team, performing IBM product demonstrations. Excellent knowledge of competitive products and how they compare may be required to successfully address customer questions.
Supports the sales team in following up with prospects on post-demonstration questions and resolving areas of concern.
Assists the sales team in transferring product and prospect knowledge to post-implementation team to ensure seamless hand-off of project.
Working with the sales team to provide strategic direction and tactical execution on accounts to maximize overall sales opportunity.
Maintaining an active presence in the industry through professional associations
and relationships.
Attend trade-shows to address product questions and serve as a technical resource on IBM products.
Maintain Technical Certification in area of specialty.
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires 5 years sales/customer service experience in a technical environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of IBM System x and BladeCenter solutions
Strong knowledge of IBM Storage solutions
Knowledge of NetApp storage a strong plus
VMWare knowledge a strong plus
Demonstrated technical aptitude
In-depth functional understanding of area of specialty
Ability to effectively interact with and gather information from high-level managers and executives.
Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects on time
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet and diagram (such as Visio) products
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent formal presentation skills before both small and large groups.
Strong analysis skills to successfully match client needs to appropriate product lines.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a computer or business related field or equivalent industry experience
Technical Certification in field of expertise or must be willing to complete within reasonable time-frame
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive automobile under applicable state requirements
Travel:
Up to 50% overnight travel required
Air travel capability required.
