Software Engineering Manager
Manage a team of 10-15 Solaris development engineers working on cutting-edge storage software technologies such as ZFS, pNFS and the kernel implementation of CIFS in Solaris. Work with peers, a program manager, and hardware groups to define programs and manage schedules. Manage bug reduction. Assist in arranging Connectathon, an annual gathering of partners and competitors in San Jose to test interoperability of file sharing software. Experience managing software development teams. (First-time managers can be considered if they have compensating skills and experience.) Project planning, conflict management, and general interpersonal skills are required. Must have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Solaris and the Solaris development process. Knowledge of file system and file sharing technologies is very desirable. Experience working with open source community-based development. Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
