Senior System Administrator

The position is a hybrid operational / development role with the emphasis on the operational side. The ideal candidate should be able to configure, operate and monitor several Linux and Windows Servers which comprise the current CALM environment. This is currently largely based on Linux but it is envisioned that over the next 9 months will largely transition to Windows 2008 Server. The current application is based on the MySQL rdbms but will transition to Microsoft SQL Server. The responsibilities of this position are: Ensuring the stability of the CALM production environment. Undertaking administrative actions are required to enable current and new features, functions and, customer requests. Supporting the development team and participate in development to the extent possible and appropriate. Reviewing and providing feedback on technical specifications including defect reports, architectural, functional and design specifications Creating scripts/modules/programs, etc. to the extent of his/her ability. Participating in Test Cycles including: Writing up Test Plans Executing Test Plans Recording and Discussion the results Participating in team meetings; ensure the wider team is aware of any important considerations which are affecting or could affect the availability of the CALM product. The following skills would be important in this capacity: ftLinux Administration ftLinux Shell Programming Windows Server Administration VMWare, VMWare/ESX MySql Database Administration (or familiarity) MySql SQL Microsoft SQL Server Administration Microsoft SQL Server SQL The following skills would be very useful in this capacity ESX Administration Familiar with industry standard SDLC practices. Familiar with industry security standards such as PCI Familiar with java/jboss/j2ee Familiar with Microsoft .Net Development including Microsoft C# and/or Microsoft Visual Basic. Stratus/VOS Operation and/or development a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent amount of experience.
