The Opportunity

 

PEAK6 Investments, LP has an opportunity for a senior level Business Intelligence Administrator within its Database Operations team. This position will report to the IT Database Administration Manager. The BI Administrator will oversee the administration of the data warehouse and reporting environments, ensuring high availability, enforcing the proper security and monitoring standards, and executing release procedures. The BI Administrator will also support financial applications such as Great Plains.

The BI Administrator is a self starter, team oriented individual who has a sense of ownership. The BI Administrator must demonstrate good work ethics, and willingness to provide off-hours support.

 

Core ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the ability to build and manage a highly available data warehouse environment.Executes Server installs and configurations (MS SQL, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Cognos 8.3, Great Plains etc...)Performs DatabaseCubeQuery Tuning.Manages Security.Automates Maintenance.Is responsible for Backup and Recovery.Designs and implements Disaster Recovery.Maintains Uptime and Performance statistics.

 

Desired Candidate Attributes Experienced report developer, Microsoft Reporting Services and Cognos.Understanding of accounting principles is a plus.Knowledge of applied statistical methods and statistical tools.Data mining experience.Must be an effective communicator.Must demonstrate a sense of urgency.Must be detailed-oriented.

 

Technical knowledge and Experience and Educational Requirements:

 Must fully understand OLTP/OLAP/star schema models.Proficient with ETL Processes – SSIS a must.Proficient with Reporting Environment Management.3+ years managing reporting portals, preferably Cognos.3+ years of hands-on data warehouse administration.Good knowledge of T-SQL.Experience with SQL 2005 required.Experience with Analysis Services 2005 required.

· A Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

· Experience in a Trading environment, is a plus.
