Description: The Performance Architect for the Classmates web based social networking application is responsible for designing, performing and integrating website performance and stability in demanding real world situations. Design and deploy methods to understand scalability, stability, and fault tolerance. Information learned will be used to enhance performance and scalability of the core Classmates web based applications. In addition, consolidate, analyze, and present data to drive best practices in formal capacity planning.   Core contributions to keep you challenged from the get go: “Go Green” by designing, building and integrating a performance environment which is reusable, flexible, scalable, stable, lightweight and impactful.  This will be deeply integrated and woven into our daily development cycle. Define and drive a framework of effective performance analysis and reporting, prioritizing them by the highest value elements of the production site while leveraging analytics, marketing and the core business.  Drive the framework into the testing and staging environments to enable deep understanding of key site characteristics prior to live deployment. Benchmark, and report on performance SLAs and liaise with Operations to establish automation practices that gather performance and capacity metrics using Java and script development on the Classmates application and drive proactive change and mitigate risks. Work with globally distributed development, architecture and infrastructure teams to integrate performance planning and analysis into the SDLC process, support performance / capacity issue debugging, and engineer optimization techniques and technical solutions for meeting application performance and capacity needs.   Core proficiencies and background: 7+ years of industry experience in high performance Java, J2EE application software development, and/or systems design and architecture, including 3+ of experience in high-traffic Internet applications BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS or PhD a plus) An inquisitive and natural curiosity to always learn more Strong experience in software performance, profiling, and optimization Detailed understanding of client side web application performance optimization Strong understanding of throughput, latency, memory and CPU utilization. Knowledge of web application server load testing / benchmark software Demonstrated ability to communicate technical and business aspects of performance issues accurately and clearly to stakeholders at all levels of organization Knowledge and interest in Cloud Computing is a plus   Who are we?
