SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL TEST ENGINEER

Vacancy: 560152 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Senior Environmental Test Engineering (ETE): Design, implement, and manage NPI and sustaining product test programs meeting corporate design objectives, product design team requirements, industry standards, and customer performance requirements for product environmental conditions including: Temperature variation, vibration response, atmospheric pressure, humidity variation, acoustics, and mechanical shock. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: * Demonstrated self initiative and ability to drive to closure. * National & Global travel required to meet with suppliers, partners, vendors, and customers. * Recognized as a technical expert within the organization.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: See above. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: * Develop concise Environmental engineering test plans meeting product team requirements. * Perform product failure analysis in support of mechanical engineers and product teams. * Operate appropriate required lab test equipment and supervise internal and external test activities. * Perform product dynamic/climatic/acoustic characterizations and analysis at the product frame; chassis; and subassembly levels. * Responsibilities include ongoing understanding of industry standard test specifications and test methodologies. * Ensure the appropriate evolution of Sun Environmental test standards/guidelines/specifications. * Represent Environmental engineering function on product teams. * Test, analyze & qualify products meeting program cost, performance, and schedule goals. * Provide frequent communication of project status to product teams and management. * Develop Environmental engineering specific strategic and/or department level programs targeted to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of department and/or group activities. * Able to manage schedule and priorities with minimal supervision. * Possess excellent program management/organizational skills. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 6+ MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent BS degree).
