Principal System Administrator

- UNIX/LINUX  GENERAL SUMMARY Ensures optimum information access and server infrastructure performance and integrity. Ensures consistency and synchronization across server platform and integrates other infrastructure components. Ensures server performance optimization, maintenance by writing and following operational procedures for maintaining and upgrading server platforms. Involved in supporting new and existing applications. Works closely with other IT groups and business units, and interacts with PPMG management. Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical problems and is regarded as highly knowledgeable in one or more system platforms. Supervises less experienced system administrators.  PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Works closely with architects on project design and technical direction.  · Ensure that the technical environment is properly monitored and correctly used in the timely resolution of problems.  · Analyzes data critical to capacity forecasting, asset management and procurement.  · Identify system performance issues and oversee the development and correct use of tools to resolve these problems.  · Provides expertise in cross-functional and intra-departmental efforts, interfacing with consultants and architects.  · Supervise and mentors less experienced Administrators.  · Assist IT managers and IT senior management with planning and reporting.  SKILLS· Problem solving skills.  · Communication skills.  · Ability to work in a team environment.  · Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge.  · Ability to work effectively with senior management.  · Results driven. Education Required:   Bachelors (Tech) or equivalent Experience Required: 10-12 Years  10 plus years of experience with Solaris 8, 9, 10 on multidomain clustered Sunfire architecture servers. This should include experience  supporting mission critical applications requiring load balancing and high availability.  Advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.  Advanced scripting experience.  Perl scripting capabilities.  Advanced Jumpstart configuration and deployment experience.  Advance Veritas product knowledge and experience including Filesystem, Volume Manager and Cluster.  Advanced experience in Systems Virtualization and System consolidation  Advanced experience with unix patch management.  Advanced experience configuring and troubleshooting Solaris servers with SAN attached storage.   Experience with EMC products such as Powerpath, Documentum, and RSA technologies.   Experience with IPMP, LLT, GAB and other networking technologies    EMC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer that values the strength diversity brings to the workplace.  EMC does not accept unsolicited Agency Resumes.
