PowerBuilder Developer
Title: PowerBuilder Developer
Location: Washington, DC
· Full life cycle PowerBuilder Developer focusing on maintaining an existing system AND designing and implementing a new data processing system.
· Must be able to visualize and explain vision and plan to individual who might not be technical.
· Must be able to work and brainstorm with colleagues to develop one sound client vision.
· Full time position at government agency in metro-accessible Washington DC.
Responsibilities:
* Gather and document requirements.
* Participates in system design.
* Implement new PowerBuilder components.
* Participate in system deployment.
* Monitor functionality of applications; provide direct resolution or collaborates with other team members to resolve issues.
* Investigate, evaluate, and implement new technologies to build more effective communication.
* establish and maintain security protection controls.
* Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.
* Maintain high level of knowledge and skill with all computer software related to the design and production of custom applications.
* Interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external team members to assure needs of the customer are met.
* Assist in project planning; provide weekly status reports and updates as required.
* Perform other duties as assigned by manager
Requirements
* Bachelor Degree in computer science or related field.
* Strong technical skills: PowerBuilder; Sybase
* Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience developing PowerBuilder applications.
* Ability to conceptualize creative concepts.
* Ability to direct and recommend cost-effective creative solutions
* Commitment to excellence and high standards.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
* Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
* Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
* Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
* Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
* Professional knowledge and experience with all standards and tools for Internet and web-related content delivery
Desirable:
* ASP.net; VB.net
* MS SQL server
