APCON, Inc., the worldwide leader of Physical Layer Switching solutions for Test Lab Automation and Enterprise monitoring, is searching for a Sales Engineer to provide technical expertise to the pre and post sales processes, as well as on-site and remote support to both the sales team, professional services group, and prospective/current customers. This position will be a home office based in the New York City area. · Provide support to Regional Sales Managers and sales management

· Enable sales to generate additional revenue

· Travel to customer locations to facilitate technical discussions and deliver presentations in support of sales opportunities

· Be a product subject matter expert on APCON’s product lines

· On-site installation, setup, and integration of APCON products into new or existing infrastructures

· Consult with customers to provide design guidance and applications engineering assistance

· Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal functions including technical support, engineering, marketing, and sales

· Project planning and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

· Coordinate and manage the customer experience for product demonstrations, field trials and lab evaluations

· Provide troubleshooting and technical support on APCON’s product lines

· Provides daily support to the Professional Services group

· Contribute to RFP/RFQ/RFI responses

· Automation script generation and maintenance in tcl, Expect, Perl, or Ruby

· Contribute technical expertise to white papers

· Contribute to the definition of new products, features and functionality

· Identify failures/failure trends and resolve design and maintenance issues

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

· 5+ years sales, field applications engineering, network engineering, systems engineering, or consulting experience

· LAN/WAN/SAN infrastructure and design knowledge

· Knowledge of large enterprise IT infrastructures, management, monitoring, and security

· Knowledge of computer hardware peripheral devices (hosts and storage), networking/switching products, Windows 2000/XP, and UNIX/Linux a definite benefit.

· Familiarity with optical transport and optical communications technologies

· Experience with hardware-based products with embedded software and stand-alone software applications is a plus

· This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, patience, tenacity, and a desire for accurate and timely responses

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project planning, and multi-tasking skills

· Ability to comprehend technical information and communicate it effectively to technical and non-technical personnel

· Ability to travel away from the home office at least 70% of the time

· BSCS, BSEE, or BS Eng. or equivalent preferred
