Network and Security Engineer

Description

Under limited supervision, administers all aspects of Network appliances and Security of production systems. Candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining two Data Centers.  Responsible for the development and maintenance of network communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Responsibilities will also include network design projects that identify, assess, and develop detailed requirements for upgrading existing networks as well as re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements. Responsible for maintaining high security levels for all servers and equipment in Data center

 

RequirementsBachelor's Degree required in area of specialty and 3-5 years of experience in the field of networking and security. Minimum 3-5 years experience with all aspects of Network Operations Support; in depth knowledge of LAN and WAN architectures and related diagnostic toolsMust have one of the following certifications: CCNP, CCDP, CCSPProven experience in designing and maintaining complex LAN environmentsAdvanced Knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls and other network equipment including Fiber Channel.  Need to be able to design, deploy, maintain and manage LAN infrastructure.High level of proficiency in Cisco switching & routing, Cisco ASA and PIX firewall technologies Knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2003, Linux (RedHat/Fedora)Working knowledge of trouble ticketing systems i.e. Remedy, Monitoring software.Working knowledge of security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasuresAn in-depth knowledge of Data Center and Enterprise class infrastructuresHas knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within network and Cisco field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Ability and desire to learn new skills quicklyEffectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organizationAbility to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal informationAbility to recommend improvements for security in two data centers and participation in security audits.
