Job Description:

 

Our client company is seeking a talented and motivated mechanical engineer to work on mechanical system design and analysis in the product development and manufacturing/field support environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with complex dynamic electro-mechanical systems, possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings.  Further, this candidate would be familiar with the startup environment and the associated hours, deadlines and high-energy culture that go with launching innovative new products.  This position reports directly to the VP of Hardware Engineering. 

 

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

·  Working with an interdisciplinary team to perform detailed mechanical system design

·  Writing and developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures

·  Supporting product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments

 

 The candidate must have the following qualifications:

·  BS / MS Mechanical Engineering (or similar field)

·  2-5 years of experience in mechanical and system design

·  Thorough understanding and use of technical principles, theories, and concepts in mechanical engineering

·  Experience with mechanical design and analysis and associated software applications such as COSMOS, ANSYS, SolidWorks and ProEngineer

·  Product design knowledge, including design for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability

·  Demonstrated ability to translate high level functional requirements down to the part level, create detailed designs to meet these requirements, and to analyze and test designs to those requirements

·  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems, test and analyze to establish root cause, and propose solutions

·  Commitment to rigorous testing practices

·  Excellent written and oral communication skills

·  Strong organizational and planning skills

·  Customer focus

·  Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced startup environment
