Essential Job Functions

Abacus is currently seeking an experienced and hands on Sr. System Engineer to assist in the pre and post sales process. The Sr. System Engineer is a critical component of the Abacus sales team and has a primary responsibility to assist Abacus Account Managers with the technical pre and post sales activities in new and existing opportunities. Utilizing relevant, consultative techniques the system engineer will:  

 

·  Assist sales team in responding to RFP’s or answering technical questions clients or prospects may have.

·  Develop an understanding of the client’s business objectives in order to map a strategy consisting of software and hardware as a solution to those business objectives.

·  Implement new solutions or integrate with existing client systems

·  Provide post-sales system/storage installation, configuration, integration, administration, tuning, sizing, architect, and design.

·  Deliver product technical & operational training to clients.

 

Minimum Requirements

The best candidate will have:

·  Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or Information Technology majors.

·  Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies from Sun Microsystems, Veritas/Symantec, EMC, IBM, Network Appliance, Hitachi Data Systems, Cisco, and Microsoft. 

·  Minimum of 5 years of experience selling and supporting enterprise infrastructure.

·  A thorough understanding of the business impact of IT in various business verticals

·  In depth knowledge in two of the following operating system environments, Windows, Linux, or Unix.

·  Must demonstrate strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision makers and clients.

·  Ability to travel 40% of the time.
