Responsibilities

 

Primary Responsibility:

Manufacturing Program Manager – New Product Introduction: Forms, plans for and directs a product team towards successful definition, development, completion, launch and management of New Products and Processes into the manufacturing environment.  Develops and/or obtains product specifications, assesses vendor capability to cost effectively produce released designs and negotiates requirements with product marketing, engineering, customers etc. to develop long term product supply strategy.  Converts marketing requirements and product description documents into manufacturing plans and task descriptions.  Follow through with engineering on early stages of development to ensure common understanding of the requirements as well as to assist with early architectural choices in the implementation.  Manage a product through inception to first year production.  Assure that manufacturing readiness meets project launch timeline.

• Scope:  Directs multiple Operations program teams to launch related New Products from approved Contract Manufacturers.
• Job Complexity:  Develops New Product Introduction Strategy at the Operations Level on a family of products.  Creates detail project tasks and timelines tailored to the individual projects using functional expertise.
• Discretion/Impact:  Decision-making has effect on the readiness of the Operations launch team to be successful in meeting the company objectives.
• Interaction:  Interacts internally with all levels of level functional managers and individual contributors to develop a program and resource plan that meets the project budget.  Leads teams and measures performance to plan.  Instructs and leads teams engaged in the selections and qualification of key suppliers and Contract Manufacturers needed to insure successful launch of new products.  Negotiates changes in product architecture with Product Marketing and Design Management to insure product meets cost, yield and volume targets.
