Lean Six Sigma Black Belt - Product Development

Performs design and development engineering assignments related to hardware products and systems including development of new products or updates to existing products. Work may encompass one or more areas of engineering including electronic design, mechanical design, reliability engineering, or other related fields. Duties may include research, evaluation, development, and application of new processes and methods into products. May be responsible for establishing and conducting testing routines, developing or executing project plans, budgets, and schedules, and documentation of work and results.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt - Product Development Focus
Position Scope:
• The scope of the work will include leading multi-functional teams both locally and globally to drive operations and process improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, with a focus on Lean Product Development and Design for Six Sigma.
• The incumbent will work with people at all levels and global sites of the organization.
• Expectations include a hands-on teamwork approach to problem solving associated with all aspects of the Lean Six Sigma Methodology.
• Conduct Diagnostic Kaizen events and Process Kaizen events driving both Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Train Champions and Lean Six Sigma Green Belts in Lean Transactional, Lean Development and Design for Six Sigma and methodologies.
• Provide input and guidance to Area Champions from both a business and technical perspective on the selection and execution of projects.
• Mentor and coach Lean Green Belts and Lean leaders – drive project execution, reporting, and funnel.
• Train, develop, and support the certification of Lean Leaders, Lean Black Belt and Lean Green Belt candidates.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Plan, support and provide training/mentoring to others in the Lean and Six Sigma methodology, including Area Executives, Champions, Management, and Green Belts.
• Provide assistance to Area Directors, Champions, and functional departments in identifying, planning and implementing Lean Six Sigma projects that tie strongly to business strategic priorities. .
• Be a liaison between functional areas on projects that have a multi-organization or business unit scope.
• Assist in the identification and removal of barriers to successful project completion.
• Provide management with project status updates and feedback.
Qualifications:
• Four year degree from a credited institution. Graduate degree a plus.
• Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
• 4+ years experience working as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, with focus in Transactional and Development areas.
• Outstanding project management skills.
• Minimum of 6 years of industry experience.
• Excellent understanding of analytical tools and proficiency in probability and statistics. Must have strong Minitab, Visio and MS Office experience.
• Excellent training and presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written.
• Excellent working knowledge of the principles and philosophies of total quality management and high performance work systems.
• Experienced team leader with proven problem solving experience and process focus.
• Ability to influence at the executive level and group settings
This position is advertised at an Advanced level but can be filled at a higher or lower level depending on a candidate’s education and experience level.
