Lead Verification Engineer

If you're an senior verification engineer with experience taking a microprocessor core through from architecture to tape out, we want to talk to you. The Austin development team is becoming the center of excellence for microprocessor core development within Sun. Our verification team is looking for a senior verification engineer to augment our existing team. Add your leadership skills and experience to our existing team. Bring your ideas for verification methodology improvements and approaches and apply them to a new design. Primary Job Function Pre-silicon verification of Sun's microprocessor design implementations, includes: -Develop and execute functional test plans -Develop verification components (checkers, monitors, infrastructure, functional coverage objects) used to verify correctness of designs -Develop and apply directed and random assembly language stimulus to exercise the design being verified -Debug failing tests to root cause and work closely with design engineers to incorporate and verify fixes -Contribute to the continuous improvement of our verification environment and methodology - Work with the architects to identify critical elements of the design; formulate plans for how to verify those critical elements. SQL Data base query and scripting experience Some travel may be required Bachelor or a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science - 8-10 years experience in design verification with advanced software development skills. - Solid understanding of logic verification and logic simulation using Verilog - Good understanding of object-oriented programming; The VERA language is a plus - Knowledge of advanced validation techniques such as coverage analysis - Background in System Verilog for writing assertions and checkers - Software development experience in a UNIX environment Perl and Verilog required The ideal candidate would have one or more microprocessor tape outs under their belt. You will have provided leadership to those verification projects. You will have broad and deep experience in many if not all of the following areas: 1) Verification of complex core architectures 2) Verification flows and methodologies 3) Pre silicon performance verification of microprocessor designs both at the core level and full chip. 4) A solid understanding of architectural concepts including threaded designs, out of order execution, speculative execution, scout threads, and memory hierarchies. 5) Proven ability to lead teams in the verification of cores and chips 6) Proven individual experience taking complex blocks from test plan to functional coverage writing and population to high quality tape out.Sun Microsystems Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and appreciates your desire to be considered for a position.
