These positions have excellent long-term potential, with similar contract employees for this Client passing the FIVE-YEAR mark and going strong!Each Lab Technician/Tester will be part of a team, but will be an individual contributor. Communication skills are very important to ensure success of the team environment. Duties and Responsibilities:In this position, you will be part of the Itanium Processor Family (IPF) PVE (Platform Validation Engineering) team responsible for Compatibility and System Validation of IPF products.Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Building, maintaining and diagnosing Open Bread-Board and Closed Rack Systems. Testing standard computer motherboards using automated and standalone Test equipment. Following written Test procedures and Engineer's directions to perform tests. Documenting Testing with Test reports using standard Microsoft Office products. Troubleshooting and repairing the component-level failing circuits. Supporting Engineers and other Technicians, as directed, by performing: Routine lab clean up Parts ordering and categorizing Small assembly and soldering tasks Thermocouple attachment Other normal laboratory duties Our client is looking for two types of Lab Technicians/Testers: Junior and Senior. The Junior candidates will be working 6am - 6pm and the Senior candidates will be working 6pm – 6am. One Junior and one Senior candidate will be scheduled for EACH following shift. The schedule is as follows: 1 Junior and 1 Senior person for the first group Week 1- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Week 2- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1 Junior and 1 Senior person for the second group Week 1- Thursday, Friday, Saturday Week 2- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday About Our Client:This company is the world's largest manufacturer of computer chips. Required Skills for the Lab Technician/Tester positions include the following: You must possess a relevant educational qualification. Years of Experience: For Junior (entry)-level individuals, a relevant degree is preferred in addition to at least an internship, along with 1-3 years of experience. For Senior-level individuals, over five (5) years of experience is required.Additional Qualifications: Experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits to the component level Ability to assemble, remove, and replace fine pitch electronic components and build simple bread boards Knowledge of general Test methodologies Excellent problem-solving skills Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to facilitate interfacing with cross-site validation teams within the Company Must be self-motivated with the initiative to work independently Experience in hands-on hardware and software debug desired with new component hardware bring-up skills a plus Bonus Skills and Experience (These skills are PLUSSES, but not REQUIRED): Skill with standard electronic lab equipment including Tektronix Digital Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters, Electronic loads and Personal Computers Knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux and one or more high-level programming languages (C++, Perl) Ability to follow schematics and/or layouts Knowledge of the Itanium or other 64-bit processors highly desirableSpecial Instructions to begin the process: Please email your resume to Volt at: methuen020404@volt.com and it will be expedited to the Recruiter assigned to these positions, to readily discuss the job with you!
