LAN Technician
Reporting directly to the Network Manager, this position will assist in providing uniform, efficient network services to the Comptroller’s Office. Under supervision, with considerable latitude for independent action or the exercise of independent judgment, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintains and enhances Comptroller’s Wide Area Network, including hardware, software, and wiring with a heavy concentration in CISCO gigabit Ethernet products and software; Builds and maintains servers within Microsoft operating software environment; Supervises high level support to the Help Desk for end user network problem resolution and requests; Organizes, implements, and maintains a uniform, efficient LAN and WAN environment for all users; Designs, evaluates, tests, implements and documents upgrades or emerging LAN/WAN technologies for selection and integration into network, including presentation of documents for management review; Monitors, maintains and secures communication and server rooms; Performs other LAN/WAN related tasks as requested by manager.

Qualifications Requirments:
A BA/BS degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking and one year of satisfactory full-time experience; or An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or and two years of experience as described above; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and three years of experience as described above; However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one year of the experience as described above. Preferred qualifications, knowledge of CISCO routers and switches; IOS; and Windows 2003 operating suite software required. Knowledge of CISCOWorks 2000; CISCO VPM, Pix Firewall is preferred. May be required to work rotating shifts, around the clock, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, depending on the need of the Agency.
