Thompson Technologies is seeking a Sr. SAN Engineer with 3PAR and Data Domain Experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the top recognized IT Teams in Atlanta!

 

As Sr. SANEngineer you will be responsible for the architecture and development of the production environment and work with the operations SANstaff to insure the storage is supportable, scalable, while also developing sound performance tuning, backup and recoverability of all Client production storage systems. 

 

Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain and administer Clients multiple 3Par, EMCClariion and iscsi arrays including physical configuration and monitoring.  Maintain and improve efficiency.  Make recommendations regarding capacity optimization. Familiar with NAS solutions such as Onstor in a cluster environment. Design, deploy and tune the various Veritas Cluster environments.  Recommend tuning changes as appropriate. Work closely with operations and the Oracle database administrators to optimize database performance Utilizing appropriate tools; develop and deploy an efficient and effective backup/restore data recovery scheme.  Includes SNAPVIEW and tape library with off site storage.  Test as required to insure recoverability. Work with Engineering to insure proper anticipation and application of technology to meet software deployments and upgrade needs. Develop required scripts to properly monitor and report error conditions. Respond as necessary to support operations in all outages to meet Client’s availability (SLA) needs. Work with production to modifications and additions to the production environment as required to meet Engineering development needs. Monitor all production disk utilization to insure adequate storage availability to meet production needs.  Make proactive recommendations to insure adequate performance. Remain current on all deployed Client’s storage technologies.  Make recommendations on new technologies that may be leveraged to meet production stability and recovery needs.

 

Experience Required3Par experience EMC and iscsi expertise, in a large-scale environment Experience with RAID and SAN infrastructures Good mentoring and training skills General UNIX shell script writing Basic Systems Administration skills on UNIX Very large database experience, including full understanding of the disaster recovery processes for large scale databases as it relates to the storage systems Experience with clustered databases (preferred) Demonstrable experience maintaining EMC Clariion physical and software configurations (preferred)
