Infrastructure Director
The Infrastructure Director, will lead the enhancement of the global foundation to accommodate our company’s strategy to roll out Oracle applications to all our divisions.
Create a scalable architecture to include telephony, network, web delivery, storage and strategic data centers.
Areas of emphasis include telecommunications, LAN’s, WAN’s, web-delivery, telephony, server management, monitoring of networks and systems, SLA’s and hosting. Your role will include the strategic planning for rapid growth, development of strong vendor partnerships and the implementation of best practices to ensure that performance, compliance, and security requirements are met.
The Infrastructure Director must be comfortable managing in a fast paced, flexible environment and being hands on with the implementation and support of Microsoft & UNIX technologies. The Director is a key player in the strategic planning process for the IT organization, acting as one of the lead advisors to the CIO.
Expected to manage a team of employees and consultants consisting of managers, engineers, server admins, desktop support personnel, etc. in the areas of Server and System Engineering, Data and Voice Network Engineering,, Call Center Technology, Storage and BackupTechnology, and Business Continuity..
Works with IT Executive peers and managers to determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs. Ensures that the organizations' needs are met and establishes technology strategy and standards.
Establish IT policies, standards, and practices to ensure effective and consistent information system operations and to protect information resources.
Directs the Technical Operations staff to include hiring, work allocation, scheduling, training, professional development, problem resolution, performance evaluation and related activities. Maintains budgetary responsibility for the department.
Directs all Data Center operations, telecommunications, data network, and server systems, including ongoing performance monitoring and tuning, hardware and software platform upgrades.
Negotiate enterprise contracts and manage vendor relationships for hardware, software and services.
Directs and oversees customer service focused PC Support and Systems support.
Provide the leadership and direction needed to develop and maintain a high-performance team environment that fosters innovation.
Participate in migration activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
Maintain knowledge of new developments in the area of systems and hardware and incorporates these innovations where appropriate into the future systems of the company.
Develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan to ensure timely and effective restoration of data an IT services in the event of a disaster
A strong background in Microsoft and AIX/Linux technologies - Windows, Active Directory, Server, Exchange, SMS, ISA, SQL Server, AIX, Linux, Tivoli
Basic understanding of SQL Server and Oracle database systems
Experience managing corporate telecommunications needs
Excellent written and oral communication skills. able to translate highly technical concepts into user-friendly business context
Familiar with ITIL, COBIT or other IT management frameworks and methodologies
Can effectively manage budget for technology operations
Ability to advocate and ensure a superior level of customer service
Experienced in building and leading highly technical teams
Understands Business Continuance and Disaster Recovery planning process
Requirements
Responsibilities:
· Manage and develop a staff of appx 20+ - US based personnel
· Manage the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all core infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, LANs, WANs, Internet,, telephony, etc.
· We are a Cisco shop including our internal call center
· Take the “visionary” lead on new technologies to best enable our customer and employee base.
· Ensure we are using the right suppliers and vendors, and that we are receiving optimal terms and pricing for our growing business.
· Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans
· Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for infrastructure administration and project management
· Define hardware and software standards
· Build simple SLA’s for our internal customer base
· Establish and meet service level agreements for uptime and issue response
· Be a technical thought leader
