Informix DBA
Local Atlanta based client needs a Senior Informix DBA to assist with an upgrade from v7.x to v11. While experience with v11 is highly desired, a minimum requirement of 9.x experience is a must. The environment will be Informix v11 running on Red Hat Linux. In this position, strong scripting skills are also critical. This will be a straight contract assignment, running 9 months + possible extensions.Will be required to perform upgrade work on multiple database environments across the enterprise. This will involve following a detailed plan and making sure that any pre-requisite steps are performed, the upgrade is successfully implemented and post-upgrade verification is complete. For each application team, the upgrade will happen on lower life cycles first, then once all verification is complete, the DBA will schedule and perform the upgrade in production. Production upgrades and some high profile lower life cycles will need to occur during night time scheduled maintenance windows. Soft Skills Needed Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to create partners at all levels of the organization and be able to prioritize and meet deadlines without full supervision. Successful candidate will be someone who is a self-starter and creative problem solver that is dependable, highly organized, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines without full supervision. Required Skills: Informix database administration on UNIX/Linux, Informix database upgrade experience from 7.31 to current versions (at least 9.x but v11 is ideal), database performance tuning and troubleshooting Years of experience: 6+ working with Informix databases Desired Skills: Experience on MS SQL Server or MySQL is a plus.
