Information Technology Assistant

POSITION:  Information Technology Assistant

HOURS/STATUS:  Full-time /Non-exempt/Evenings

START DATE: August 2008

REPORTS TO: Dean of Instruction

LOCATION:  East Campus

 

JOB SUMMARY:

This individual will be responsible for administering the administrative and academic local area networks, evening IT operations, maintain user accounts, e-mail addresses, and computer lab maintenance and preparation.  In addition, the candidate should have excellent customer service skills.  The candidate should posses a minimum of an Associate’s degree and some evidence of continuing education/certification in the IT field would be beneficial.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

·  Provide general IT support to students and employees

·  Manage user and e-mail accounts for students and employees using Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Server

·  Repair broken hardware by replacing parts or contact service company

·  Maintain printers and copiers by clearing paper jams, replacing toner, and stocking paper

·  Assist in installing new software on classroom computers and make sure to meet teaching needs for different classes and instructors

·  Reconfigure computer labs to meet academic requirements

·  Assist in building maintenance as needed

·  Other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPEREINCES:

·  AS degree IT/CS or closely related field

·  Strong experience with Windows platform required (Windows XP, Server 2000/2003)

·  Experience with Macintosh platform helpful (OS X)

·  Web programming background necessary:

·  Knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office applications Apache, PHP, MySQL, HTML

·  Some responsibilities in Network Administration

·  Ability to communicate with students, faculty and administration

·  Excellent customer service skills is a must
