IT Network Systems Analyst (276544-841)
Description
Reporting to the Genesee & Wyoming (GWI) Network Manager, the GWI Network Systems Analyst assists with the administration and maintenance of the company's network assets and provides end user information technology support. In this role the Network Systems Analyst must proactively support the department's group goals, as well as the company's corporate goals, objectives, and strategies. The work is of a technical nature but also requires exceptional customer service and communication skills. Under the direction of the Network Manager, maintain/administer local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) equipment including network servers, routers, telecom assets and other general network equipment Implement and maintain network monitoring software and tools to ensure the efficient operation of the company's LAN and WAN networks including email/pager alerting of important network performance events Implement and maintain network security monitoring software/tools including email and pager alerting of important security system events Provide general end-user desktop, network and application support Select, install, and maintain office computing systems, office productivity applications and network-based resources such as printers, scanners, etc. Develop, document and maintain procedures associated with the performance of assigned tasks Provide support for critical business needs outside of normal business hours via cell-phone notification and/or other communications Required Skills
High level of analytical problem-solving ability. Programming and/or scripting competence. Excellent verbal and written communication skillsA willingness to travel and to support the company's network users Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision Required Experience
Education Required or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's Degree -Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education or experience
Education Preferred: Bachelor's Degree - Information Technology Related
Experience Required: Understanding of Microsoft Windows, SQL, and Exchange server; Understanding of PC computers, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs; Understanding of Active Directory and Group Policies
Related Experience Preferred: 2 years related experience
