The Information Technology Manager is responsible for maintaining the effectiveness of the information systems infrastructure of the Information Technology (IT) Department, and serves in a collaborative, consultative role for all information technology uses at the organization.

This position will need to maintain overall awareness of and oversight responsibility for all information technology uses throughout the organization. As such, this role includes providing well-informed guidance for application projects that have a key user leading the effort (ie software replacement and selection projects, integration efforts), and providing the appropriate technology infrastructure to support the myriad of applications at the organization.  This role brings major information technology challenges to light in a timely matter, helping to research options and suggesting plans and budgets for addressing. Continually updating strategic plans for both near-term and long-term projects is a key responsibility.  This position provides a central communication point of contact and coordination of interdependencies for all areas of the business from a technology perspective.  Â

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Manage the overall availability of the organization’s enterprise wide IT infrastructure, including the VoIP system.  Research, analyze, and manage the implementation of improvements. Manage and mentor the IT department staff. Make the most of each staff’s talents while maintaining a well-functioning team that can work together to effectively solve problems and provide excellent customer service. Provide technical guidance or direction, summary analyses, and project management support for IT projects/responsibilities as needed. Collaborate with key business users to lead proactive planning and implementation of IT strategies that optimize cost-effective usage of current and future technology, including our internet presence and transition to Web 2.0 communication strategies.  Plan and coordinate with key managers regarding information strategies that meet their needs as well as provide guidance from a supportability standpoint. Research and develop ways of utilizing new information technologies to more efficiently achieve business objectives. Maintain monitoring procedures to identify network and data storage issues and proactively address network and system problems.  Resolve problems both in-house and with external vendors depending on cost/benefit analysis and timing considerations. Develop and/or periodically update policies and procedures for the internal operations of the IT department (i.e. standard workstation configurations, software license/hardware tracking, software and hardware standards), Develop and/or periodically update policies for the entire organization regarding approved usage of IT assets, internal security protocols, and approved Internet access use. Perform technical duties as determined by allocation of responsibilities among team members. Manage external support resources and relationships with consultants and vendors. Set data security standards, maintain an awareness of security risks and PCI industry requirements, set and enforce security policies, and periodically assess the need for security changes/improvements. Work towards PCI compliance as quickly/efficiently as possible, then maintain. Perform other duties as assigned.
 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will directly supervise three or more department staff, and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position requires the ability to interact effectively with employees in order to direct workflow, assess performance, and assign duties.

QUALIFICATIONSÂ

Previous experience implementing complex network or systems oriented projects. Experience managing a network and network services. Experience with Internet based applications preferred. Experience installing/configuring switches, routers and firewalls in Intranet/Internet environments. Experience in firewall architecture, risk reviews and security audits. Network penetration testing is a plus. Understanding of IT architecture design and implementation, as well as internet security issues. Understanding of NIDS and/or IDS systems. Previous VPN experience, exposure to standard security practices a plus. Experience with SNMP management and overall infrastructure management. Ability to translate business requirements into logical and physical design. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Excellent planning and organizational skills. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree (B.S) in Computer Science or related degree from an accredited college, university or program is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five or more years of direct information technology experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
