IS Desktop EngineerDescription: Volt is seeking a talented IS Desktop Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in the Moses Lake area. If you are looking to put your years of experience to use, we want to hear from you!The IS Desktop Engineer...Supports desktop and laptop computers as part of an IS Operations desktop team. Responsible for assigning, resolving and closing trouble tickets. Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies common problems when they relate to the end user computing environment. Will assist IS Operations team with troubleshooting various technical issues. Maintains desktop support related documentation, PC inventory records, knowledge base information. May update policy and procedure information under the direction of IS management. Responsible for building automated PC build and software distribution processes under direction of IS management. Acts as an "in the field" service technician.Essential Functions: Maintain PC inventory database and software license recordsAnswer, troubleshoot and resolve user calls to IS helpdesk. Record all support calls, notes and resolution in IS helpdesk system.Assist desktop support team with projects.Create and maintain best practice processes for PC builds, restores and software distribution.Builds and maintains partnerships with customers by regularly demonstrating a high level of expertise and professionalism.Keeps customers informed of problem resolution timeline and action plans.Participates in on-call rotation.Other Responsibilities: Actively participate in team meetings within primary site.Represent function to all customers in a positive and professional manner.Other tasks, as needed, to meet departmental and company goals and objectives.*Volt is an equal opportunity employer* Requirements: Scripting experience a mustMust be able to push updates on Microsoft services3-5 Years experience as a Desktop Engineer/PC Technician.Proven record of strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Information Systems processes and procedures. Knowledge of Help Desk processes and procedures (trouble ticketing, call resolution, escalation).In depth knowledge of automated build tools such as Ghost or RIS.Demonstrated verbal communication skills to probe and define user problems.Extremely organized, with the ability to work with peers and external departments to coordinate efforts.Work requires communications and analytical skills normally acquired through four years of post-secondary education in mathematics, computer science or a related field, or equivalent technical training in a computer-related fieldKnowledge of a wide variety of hardware and software including:PCs, printers, fax, phoneStandard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite)Networking principlesMicrosoft Operating Systems (Win9X, Win2K, WinXP, ETC.)Other: Ability to work with diverse workforce and with all levels of management (ethnicity, language and education levels).Ability to install and remove PCs from the customer's work area.
