Helpdesk, PC Specialist

This is a great opportunity for a 6+ month long contract working with CTG and our client here in Rochester MN.  This is a great way to get your foot in the door with one of the largest employers in MN.  Great benefits and salary range.  Possible Long-term extension is possible.This job is primarily to receive reports of problems or other issues regarding computers and related technologies, troubleshoot and resolve or escalate those problems or issues, and document all of the foregoing. Complete Description: Hours: Tuesday- Saturday 9-6 Tues.-Fri. 7-3 on Saturday Organizational Relationships: Reports to and takes direction from the Help Desk Supervisor and Assistant Supervisors. When appropriate per Help Desk Process Definitions, takes direction from Help Desk Situation Manager. Interacts extensively with Help Desk customers, team members, vendors of supported technologies, vendors of technologies used by the Help Desk, and problem consultation / escalation resources. Position Overview: This job is primarily to receive reports of problems or other issues regarding computers and related technologies, troubleshoot and resolve or escalate those problems or issues, and document all of the foregoing. Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: Education Associates degree or 3-5 years equivalent experience Clerical/Personal skills Typing skills of 25+ wpm Excellent written and verbal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Able to spend considerable time on the phone Support/Call Center skills/tools Understanding of, and ability to use Call Tracking and documentation tools designed for call/support centers Understanding of and ability to use knowledge-base or document storage/search utilities (tech-search, Apple support, etc.) Demonstrated customer service as a regular part of a recent position they have held. Provided computer-related, technical support for at least 6 months Understand usage of Install/Configure remote control software on the Mac or PC platform Technical/Work related experience Demonstrated ability to customize the Mac or Wintel operating system (Wallpaper, shortcuts/aliases, screen colors, sounds, pointers, screen-saver, etc.) Demonstrated ability to prepare new/used PC or Mac equipment for, and perform, a fresh (scratch) install on an operating system (manually, not from an image) Demonstrated ability to configure a Mac or PC for connection to a network using a common networking protocol (TCP/IP, IPX, NETBEUI, Appletalk, etc.) Demonstrated ability to install/configure a shrink-wrap application on a Mac or PC Operating System. Demonstrated ability to install and configure software to allow for 5250, 3270, or VT100 emulation between that workstation and a large host Understanding of computer related terminology (CPU, Internet, Networking, Client/Server, LAN/WAN, etc.) Behavior Characteristics: The successful candidate will be coustomer-centric.
