Hardware Engineer

PCTEL – RF Solutions Group, is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to provide support to Engineering by performing RF, Analog, and Digital design as required to complement its line of wireless network test equipment.

 

Selected candidate will perform FPGA design (including DSP algorithms), electrical design of digital and analog circuitry; perform component selection, simulation, PCB layout, debug, documentation, and testing; assist in the maintenance of our existing products by performing problem investigation, troubleshooting, component qualification, and testing; review existing and new designs to help ensure product functionality, performance and quality.

Qualify design changes and alternate parts; actively work with suppliers to select and qualify new components; generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Deviations, and other required paperwork; and direct outside resources (Mechanical, PC Layout) during product development and maintenance..

 

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering; a minimum of three years related work experience in commercial product development environment; intermediate knowledge of Analog, RF, and Digital designs; intermediate experience in board-level design using microcontrollers, DSP processors, peripherals, glue logic, EPLD/FPGAs; and PWB/PCB layout; intermediate experience in analog circuits; high speed A/D and D/A Converters; PLLs for reference clocks and LOs; receiver design with RF input frequencies up to 2 GHz; PWB layout; intermediate experience in Verilog FPGA design, DSP algorithms, digital design and Matlab simulation; basic understanding of Digital Signal Processing fundamentals, embedded systems, and Cellular Communication / GPS concepts; basic understanding of Microwave fundamentals from 2 GHz to 10 GHz; advanced skills interacting cross functionally with various departments especially Development, Product Management, Customer Service, and Sales.
