Hardware Design engineer

Looking for self-motivated, team oriented senior/staff hardware design engineer to be a part of the Niksun Hardware & System development team for the next generation leading edge Network Security platform. High performance, high speed board design experience. Working knowledge of Hardware Design tolls for schematic capture, signal integrity & timing analysis. Hands on expeience with at least one of the high speed interfaces/buses such as SPI4.x,PCI-Express, Infiniband etc. Ability to write Design architecture, Functional & Design specification. Define Diagnostic requirements. Experience with Board Layout & ability to write layout rules for working with outside CAD Layout designers. Experience working with the Tier1-Tier3 Contract Manufacturing companies & producing designs that meet DFT & DFA requirements. Ability to work with FPGA engineers. Small FPGA/CPLD design experience. Good understanding of the networking protocols such as ATM & IP. Experience with networking devices, including routers, switches, taps, repeaters, converters is a plus. Tpically requires BS/MS in CS/EE with 8+ years of relevant experience in high speed didgital design & technologies. Must have hands on experiouce using ORCAD,Mentor Graphics View Logic or Cadence Design Condept schematic capture tools. Recent design experience with PCI & PCI -Express interfaces & chips. 10Gigabit interface design is a plus. Knowledge & experience with Network Processor based design. Good Bring up & test experience. Storage system design experience is plus. Strong interpersonal & communication skills; independent problem solving,.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Work with cross functional teams & complete the definition of the next generation architecture.

Complete design, schematic capture, board layout & assembly of the new line card. Lead efforts to define & write diagnostic & test specification.

Hire hardware technician & complete test & bring up of the new design.

effectively document technical issues-design restrictions,workarounds, & corrective actions.

Provide regular status & progress towards milestones with program leaders, & senior engineering management.
