Electronics Technician/Test Engineer

For over 50 years, the BBN name has been synonymous with technological innovation. Active TS/SCI is desirable.***BBN Technologies, located in Arlington VA, is seeking an experienced Electronics Technician / Test Engineer. Responsibilities include supporting test hardware in a laboratory setting and at remote field tests (~6 times/year). The successful candidate will have the ability to work under time constraints to perform maintenance, trouble-shooting, disassembly, packaging and reassembly of specialized hardware devices. In addition, the candidate must be capable of designing and building interface hardware to support interoperation between test hardware and heterogeneous computing hardware.Responsibilities will include, but is not limited to:* Perform setup and test of various pieces electronic test equipment and hardware;* Fabricate custom packages, cables and interfaces;* Work with engineers to troubleshoot and repair hardware systems;* Document designs and generate schematics;* Coordinate selection and purchase of electronics components and equipment; * Work independently and think out of the box in a non-standard lab environment; and* Organize and maintain a small electronics laboratory. Minimum Education:Associates Degree in relevant field; B.S. desired. Minimum Experience:* 1-3 years experience dependent on degree.* Significant experience and expertise as an electronics technician.* Prototype fabrication including reworking of surface mount components.* Familiarity configuring and operating various pieces of laboratory equipment (waveform generators, network analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).* Must have the ability and desire to learn quickly and apply new knowledge intelligently.* Must be available to participate in occasional remote field tests of 1-2 week duration.Desirable background and experience:* Experience with RF analog circuitry.* Experience with electronic prototyping CAD tools and/or related design tools.* Experience working with FPGA design tools. * Experience in a research/development lab environment.* 1- 2 years computer networking and systems administration experience.* Expertise Linux, Unix and/or Solaris operating systems. * Expertise with heterogeneous computer networks with Linux, UNIX, and VME systems.* Experience in setup and support of Windows in a research/development environment.**BBN is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.** RESPOND HERE!
