Director of Networking Systems

RiverPoint is currently seeking a Director of Networking Systems for a FULL TIME PERMENANT POSITION for a client of ours located in downtown Chicago, IL.

 

Please note this is a full time salaried position.  Due to client restrictions candidates must be U.S. Citizens/Green Card Holders.

 DESCRIPTION

 

Direct and manage the budget and operations of the data communications networks.  Plan, organize, direct, and implement technology standards.  Overall responsibility for all network operations work including, the integration of new technologies.  Provide a single point of contact for second level problem management, reporting, change control verification, and work station/server support.  Provide analysis, project management and support for networking system projects.  Ensure availability, responsiveness and effective utilization of our clients networking systems and budgets.

 

KEY SKILLS

 

Project Management Responsibility - General project management and project participation to:

· Identify tasks, assign resources, and report status on all project related functions

· Manage the timely completion and updates of all project management tools including:

o  Project Schedule

o  Issue Log

o  Cost and Time baseline and associated variance reporting

o  Weekly communication as defined in the project plan

o  Coordination of resources to accomplish tasks off hours and on weekends where appropriate

· Support and coordinate the testing efforts

· Recommend corrective actions should project experience a variance from the anticipated baselines for time, cost, and/or scope

· Minimize downtime, both scheduled and unscheduled, when performing migration activity

 Data Center and Operations

· Familiar with and capable of providing low/medium voltage specifications and design feedback as necessary to support the departments network and server equipment

· Familiar with space management, racking and stacking design/requirements to support the departments network and server equipment

· Experience in MDF and IDF cable and building cable plant design and configuration

· Experience with Data Center moves and migrations

 

 Key Vendors Experiences Licensing management and contract negotiations with vendors and knowledge with Enterprise License Agreements Vendor Management:MicrosoftSymantecNortel/Cisco  

 Server EnvironmentUse of Netbackup to provide the base for backup and restore of the server and OS environment.  Use of disk, tape and incremental backup and recovery capability Extensive management experience operating the Windows XP server environment.  Planning, implementing, migrations, support Familiar with SQL/Server, File and Printer server design, implementation and supportStrong understanding of standards and policy experience with Active DirectoryManage AD sites and services associated with AD Domain ControllersSecurity Management with ADPolicy design enforcementStrong working knowledge of DHCP and the interdependencies with it’s structure, use and network connectivityFamiliar with the design, capability and support of a Windows Clustered environmentFile encryptionExperience with SAN Storage for an EMC Clariion SAN

 Desktop EnvironmentFamiliar with the operations of using Microsoft’s Systems Management Server (SMS)  Familiar with operating a blended environment with mostly Windows and some MacintoshHardware break/fix repair operations for desktops, laptops, and printers (Compac and HP) Familiar with security and virus projection using MacAfee SecurityBackground in managing an MS Office technical support group and migration services to new releases
