Desktop Support Technician

JOB SUMMARY:   This position assists staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. The position’s responsibilities require independent analyses, communication and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

 

Provide first response to customers on acknowledgement of issue, possible correction and alternative methods to continue working.

 

Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.

 

Works with Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients.

 

Capable of making independent decisions in connection with installation of software and troubleshoot techniques.

 

Responsible for moves, adds, and changes of PC, voice and printer equipment.  Ensures that computer equipment and software meet company standards and that proper licensing is maintained.

 

Provide Intranet support and administrative functions for Endevco and Meggitt.

 

Provide applications support for all applications written in C#.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification: AA or BS in Information Technology is preferred

 

Required Knowledge: Ideal candidate will be proficient in Windows desktop operating environment to include Win XP Professional, as well as, MS Office products.  Candidate should possess a basic knowledge of computer networking. A working knowledge of C# or Java programming language is required.

 

Experience Required:  0-2 years experience supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional desktop/laptop PCs. C# or Java programming experience is highly desirable.
