Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc. (PDSi), a publicly traded, high-tech company located just south of Columbus, Ohio, has an exciting career opportunity for the right candidate with has a proven track record in developing teams and managing customer programs and requirements.

PDSi provides products and technical services, which includes the development and production of embedded (built-in) or stand alone computer systems and components, and the testing and repair of computer systems, to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the aerospace, computer,  data storage, digital-imaging, medical diagnostic, process-control, and telecommunications equipment industries.


We are in search of the ideal energetic DIRECTOR of ENGINEERING, HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DESIGN candidate to join the PDSI team who will be responsible for building and leading a high performance team dedicated to the design, development and deployment of engineering projects. To provide technical leadership to the organization as it relates to planning and implementation of the Company’s product strategy. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

·  Provide technical leadership to product development, hardware integration and design engagements.

·  Direct a talented team of electrical, process, software and mechanical engineers to design and develop latest hardware and software systems.

·  Recruit, manage and develop a team of highly skilled engineering professionals.

·  Act as change agent to incorporate new technologies into the product portfolio.

·  Lead process improvement initiatives and work in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.

·  Understands relevant business goals and issues and the organization's operating procedures and connects these to work priorities.

·  Support the sales teams by responding to new customer opportunities.

·  Provide engineering support and direction to operations team.

·  Participate in strategic planning and research projects as needed.

·  Interface with suppliers to develop cost-effective solutions.

·  Comply with all applicable quality system requirements.

·  Primarily interfaces with all functional areas.

·  Develop and maintain a safe and clean work area.

 

Education/Experience:

· Exceptional electrical and mechanical engineering skills required.

· BS/BA in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience required. 

· Masters degree in electrical or mechanical engineering desired.

· Minimum seven years experience in developing hardware products and managing hardware development project plans. 

· Board level Design experience

· Broad understanding of the contract manufacturing industry.

· Experience with circuit board and mechanical design required. Familiarity with Sun and ATCA hardware and software desired.

· Decisive action-oriented individual who learns quickly, works independently, and takes ownership of open issues.

· Strong knowledge of the telecommunication, imaging, and/or medical industries.

· In-depth understanding of embedded computing systems.
