Computer Hardware / Networking Technician

Job Purpose:

Supports our clients by installing, configuring, and supporting workstations & laptops. Supports our clients with light networking and server related issues.

Duties:

* Will purchase workstations and laptops on behalf of our clients.

* Will receive, unpack and recycle packing materials for purchased hardware.

* Will pre-configure hardware, deliver and install hardware. Will complete configuration onsite where necessary.

* Will migrate files/settings from users' old hardware to new hardware.

* Will provide brief/light training to users of new hardware.

* Will be available to provide desktop support to users remotely and onsite when necessary. Clients are in various parts of Houston.

* Will assist with basic networking issues. May assist with basic server-related issues.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Practical knowledge and professional experience with desktop, laptop, server hardware configuration and troubleshooting. Practical knowledge and professional experience with networking equipment configuration and troubleshooting. Good people skills interacting with end users at various levels on the corporate ladder. Self-sufficient, motivated, takes initiative, follows directions precisely each and every time.

 

Preferrred Skills/Knowledge:

Software: Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Business

Protocols: Basic TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, firewalls, ethernet, fiber

Hardware: A+ Certified or commensurate experience
