Capacity Planning Systems Engineer - (permanent position)

Capacity PlanningSystem Engineer  The Enterprise Capacity team is responsible for the planning and performance review of the Domestic & International Enterprise environments (including in-country processing environments and regional distribution centers). This position requires the ability to effectively solve problems, manage multiple tasks, and utilize software tools, programming languages, and system commands to support Enterprise processing capabilities.  Responsibilities include:§  Forecasting system usage – CPU, memory, disk and network§  Researching/resolving performance issues §  Identifying/forecasting capacity utilization issues§  Recommending system upgrade strategies based on capacity utilization reports and performance issues§  An advanced understanding of the Enterprise (large scale mainframe and 50,000+ servers) environment and be able to utilize software tools, languages, scripts, and shells required for effective support and capacity management / utilization  Â§  Possesses the ability to:o  effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs o  to interpret team and vendor documentation and create checklists and maintain those technical documents o  resolve problems quickly and thoroughly with innovative solutions o  to operate with minimal guidance and direction and be responsible for assisting less experienced associates o  to prepare and communicate presentations division-wide and with intent to influence customers.  Communicating with internal and external customers, vendors and the various infrastructure support team Â§  Demonstrate intermediate leadership and project management skills §  On call support (rotational basis)  ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS  Â§  Experience in the Implementation and Administration of a broad range of industry Capacity Planning tools highly desired§  Possess strong team skills §  Possess solid organization skills §  Technical Skills:o  Windows Server 2000/2003, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Redhat and SUSE Linux o  OS390, IMS, DB2, Computer Associates MICS, and SAS experience are all a plus o  HP Openview Measureware or other related measurement toolso  CMDB experience a plus§  Degree in Computer Science or relative work experience §  Possess a competent use of Microsoft Office products §  Possess a familiarity with evaluation and selection of technology solutions for payback justification of ROI   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Four-year degree or equivalent experience in a technical field such as computer science, management information systems, or engineering.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- length - permanent position location - northwest Arkansas (relocation assistance will be offered to candidates who will be relocating for this opportunity)  please email your resume to jason.thomas@modis.com  for immediate consideration    Company: Modis, Inc.
