Description: BASIC FUNCTION OF JOB- The position of Buyer is responsible for the procurement and management of inventory as it supports the Supply Chain Management stocking strategy. This will include working operational issues with suppliers, providing strong customer service and maintaining data accuracy in the SAP system. The Buyer will be empowered to negotiate and resolve issues as they relate to their assigned accounts. Teamwork both within the department and with their peers is necessary to ensure achievement of overall team goals.   WORK PERFORMED- The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   • Process Application: • Implement / apply stocking strategy / levels & MRP rules / policies • Manage controller buckets (MRP groups etc) as allocated • Focus on managing inventory and minimize lost sales resulting from shortages – maintain required inventory levels • Implement agreed purchasing plan for area of responsibility • Control procurement spend within budget agreed • Gathers Business Intelligence: • Work with Senior Buyer to determine product life cycles • Understand technology roadmap & align to supplier network • Agree with Senior Buyer risk of & impact from changes to new products • Supplier / Material Management: • Negotiate pricing and expedite delivery • Negotiate with suppliers as needed – lead times etc • Follow up and close open issues with suppliers • Manage shippable report from suppliers • Develop new / alternative suppliers – conduct assessments • Purchasing Operations: • Management of data integrity across area of responsibility & reporting system / data integrity issues • Create / cancel PO’s aligned to stocking strategy, MRP approach & automation intent – maintain SKUs • Proactive Management of Inventory; in / out / backlog / shipment errors / reconciliation (AP / VS) / write-downs • Track price protection and submit claims • Manage costs • Product Allocation notifications • Opportunity Buys with measures of cost effectiveness / profitability • Program Support – warranties, special pricing, SW licensing • Process configure to order (CTO) requests • Ensure Functional Alignment with team members including PM / WH / Sales • Fulfill MDS requests KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- 2 to 3 years of experience in specialty or related field. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/ professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports and/or business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, other employees.   Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and/or persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and/or boards of directors.   EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.
