BI DBA / Data Architect

One of Modis' clients needs a BI DBA / Data Architect. This is a 6 to 12 month contract in Jacksonville, FL. This person will be working with the Business Intelligence team and therefore needs to have a "BI mind set".  Business Intelligence DBA / Data ArchitectJacksonville, FL6 – 12 monthsAs a member of the database administration team the Data warehouse DBA will support multiple production and development databases, ensuring maximum availability and performance. This position will also be required to work closely with the Business Intelligence team to aid in the design and development of the Data warehouse environment, including data modeling, capacity planning, and overall architecture of the DW system. Key Responsibilities:  Aid in the design and layout of a Multi-Terabyte Data warehouse Provide support for a multitude of production and development Oracle databases Responsible for the DW database architecture and physical data models (in conjunction with the data architect). Provide performance tuning and scalability recommendations in database design Define, design, and implement partitioning, tuning, and indexing strategies Adhere to current company practices in change management Tune reporting response and population times to meet current SLAs Gain an intimate understanding of the database’s access and usage, and the impact of loads and usage by functions or classes of users. Perform routine maintenance, patching, and performance tuning Monitor, develop, and implement database backup recovery, DR/HA strategies Participate in the design of the DW load/population routines and utilities. Proactively monitor the database performance and tune as needed. Assist the data architect and analysts in mapping data sources to the DW physical model, data integrity and quality issues Assist the application and infrastructure architects/analysts/developers in design and code reviews. Rotate on a on-call schedule for 24/7 support  Required Skills: Experience in designing, maintaining and implementing DW solutions. Knowledge of key data warehousing processes. Experience in tuning in an Oracle DW running in a Real Application Cluster (RAC) environment Knowledge in UNIX shell scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, and Perl Experience in RMAN, Dataguard, Grid Control, ASM, Linux, and RAC Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to identify potential solutions and assess technical and business suitability Experience working with all aspects of administration of Oracle 10G in a RAC architecture  Desired Skills:  Knowledge of data modeling (ErWin) & ETL. Knowledge of Oracle Application Server 10g Knowledge of or experience working in Microsoft SSIS and PL/SQL programming Experience in working with large Terabyte Oracle databases  If qualified AND interested, please apply below.
