Asst Manager - Corporate Strategy - Bus Analysis & Reporting

Leading international Consumer Packaged Goods Company seeks highly analytical Manager or Senior-level Marketing Analyst to join Corporate Strategy team in high profile Market Development Group.  Very high visibility position in company with outstanding track-record of promoting from within.  Position is in Long Beach, CA. California candidates preferred.

Manages business analysis and reporting in support of all departments, including executive management, and if necessary, develops new tools and reports to meet the needs of the organization.  Conducts decision support activities including business reporting, market analytics and forecasting to ensure accurate information is available to key decision makers and analyzes implications for product lines.  Manages relationships and all reporting to external industry committees, organizations and syndicated research companies.  Key customers include: Product Management, Sales, Channel Marketing, Senior Management and Executive Team..

Principal Accountabilities

Business Reporting and Market Analytics

§ Provides decision support activities to ensure accurate information is available to key decision makers

§ Creates and publishes regular and ad-hoc reporting for sales, product categories, channels, industries, etc.

§ Tracks and reports on-going brand sales and market share results for existing businesses

§ Follows and analyzes sales, marketing and industry trends for all branded businesses, and non-branded businesses as needed

§ Gathers, organizes and utilizes syndicated and proprietary research and market reports, adding analytical investigation, and understanding how it relates to company brand.

§ Manages the reporting and relationships with external research companies

§ Manages the affiliation and coordination of  Company’s leadership with industry committees

§ Provides business reporting information and presentations in direct support of the Executive Team

§ Collaborates with customers and external vendors to develop and manage company  Database activities

§ Assists internal clients with the correct use of internal tools and market information

§ Responsible for collaborating with Market Research on the fiscal budget for all syndicated vendor research relating to business statistics and forecasts used by the department

§ Recommends the selection and purchase of syndicated vendors for business statistics and forecasts to Market Research

§ Advises as to the quality and reliability of syndicated data providers on-going

§ Assist internal clients with the correct use and interpretation of syndicated information

§ Develops new tools and reports to meet the needs of the organization in understanding the products, channels, markets and industries, and supporting strategic decisions

§ Conducts analytic projects, and/or manages analysts and vendors, to support strategic decisions with longer term implications for existing product lines (e.g. bundle market analysis, available market model, etc.)

§ Works to form the key question to be answered, develop the hypothesis and obtain buy-in from key customers

§ Develops a plan to obtain relevant data and structures the project into discrete components

§ Collects and analyzes data (primary and secondary) and develops analytic modeling tools

§ Synthesizes data, hypotheses and discrete components into a concise assessment

§ Develops and communicates key analytic findings to customers

§ Provides collaboration and back-up support for retail channel marketing team with retail market reporting and analytics

§ Develops concise communications for executive staff delivery (e.g., All Employee Meeting presentations, Customer presentations, Company presentations, etc.)

§ Maintains schedules for the completion of market reporting and analytics deliverables

§ Identifies conflicts and recommends solutions to prioritize the deliverables pipeline

Qualifications:  Position is a hybrid of Business Analytics and Market Research / Development, and requires:


Completion of B.A. or B.S..  MBA a plus

Experience at an intermediate level in consumer marketing (typically 5-8 years of experience). 2+ years supervisory experience.

Must have experience in either consumer packaged goods environment or data sources market research environment

Must be able to analyze complex marketing data, utilizing data sources to optimize short-term marketing goals of existing product portfolio.
