(EVENINGS, NIGHTS, WEEKENDS)A leader in delivering broadband and other communication innovations to wireline and wireless customers has a contract position available for an Associate Technician to work as part of a team.Job Description:The Associate Technician: Is required to understand architecture of wireless voice/data networks. Troubleshoots/resolves service impairments in roaming, transport services, network hardware and software faults, translations, and voice/data network elements. Correlates customer complaints with network element performance to resolve service impacting conditions. Drives troubles to resolution by engaging internal and external resources. Provides accurate and timely documentation of actions. Identifies efficiencies to reduce cycle time in resolving customer troubles. Interfaces with vendors to ensure that defects in software or hardware are corrected at the point of manufacture. Is in charge of training and development of Junior Techs. Acts as Project Lead in testing/support of new products. Requirements: Required Skills for this Associate Technician (SDET2) position include the following: Minimum Associate's Degree, two-year Technical Degree, equivalent Special Electronics training, or equivalent work experience required; equivalent military experience a plus Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Wireless Voice/Data Networks required Knowledge of Data Network elements and protocols including: TCP/IP MPLS OSI Frame Relay ATM X.25 RIP OSPF BGP ISDN SS7 Other LAN/WAN protocols Skill and experience with: Reporting, Access and Troubleshooting tools (i.e. Remedy Trouble Ticketing, Xpercom, Agilent and SANE) Lucent Nortel Compaq HLRs Motorola Databases Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex voice/data platform messages Knowledge of Call and Digit-by-Digit Routing Translations and Dialing Plans Troubleshooting skills required to analyze complex call processing routing issues Communications/Interpersonal skills Ability to gather and analyze info PC skills and software knowledge of Windows and Word/Excel required; the following a plus: UNIX SQL Query Syntax Tipdunix apxrcv Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously Ability to follow established guidelines Must possess organizational skills Ability to work in a high-pressure, changing environment Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights and weekends, required CCNA, A+, Network + A PLUS!
