JOB DESCRIPTION: Consults with appropriate staff to develop requirements and specifications for applications. Implements developed applications and provides customer support of applications.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six years of information technology experience OR a bachelor's degree and four years of information technology experience. Positions in this classification may require a knowledge of one or more programming languages and/or a knowledge of an application and application tools.QualificationsThe Application Developer/Analyst, Sr. role is responsible for the reliability, performance, uptime, and support of multiple enterprise-wide applications across Emory University and partners. The position installs, configures, and customizes off-the-shelf and custom developed software packages. It is responsible for analyzing application-level performances, managing information security controls, and configuring the functionality of the application based on user needs. Programming responsibilities will be required to help automate application tasks and monitoring. Planning skills will be required to provide a reliable and detailed roadmap for each application. In addition, the Application Support System Administrator will assist in the quality control and overall selection process of enterprise-wide research systems.The position also provides application-level support to users when escalated by local support or the central help desk. To ensure the successful adoption of the applications, the Application Support System Administrator will assist in the development of application documentation and frequently asked questions.The position will also liaison with the operations team to ensure the hardware and operating system is consistent with need and any changes are understood from the application level. The position also works with developers to ensure a successful transition from development to production. To be successful in this role, the applicant must possess a strong software application system administration skill set, consisting of application administration, system administration, and a customer service. The position must also work within a collaborative, project-focused, innovative team.

· Application administration experience, especially a mixture of commercial and custom developed software;· System administration skills and experience, especially with Linux RedHat or Windows operating systems;· Experience managing information security and administrative controls, such as account management, auditing, encryption, system-based firewalls, and access control mechanisms;· Familiarity with programming languages, particularly PERL, PHP, Python, Cold Fusion, .Net and/or Java;· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
