Position Overview:The AIX Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring and supporting the Digital infrastructure which involves but is not limited to: IBM AIX servers, Linux based servers, and all other windows based systems
Daily Responsibilities:Installation, maintenance and administrator of AIX Work with application development teams integrating application code through various environments of the development lifecycle.Work with operations group to establish and improve processes and procedures related to the UNIX infrastructureManages the deployment of appropriate security patches, hot fixes, and software updatesMonitors performance and tunes the servers for best performanceWork with the application and project teams to formulate requirements.Provide on-call production support on a large 24x7 operation. Perform root cause analysisManage performance/capacityAnalyze Problems and situationsImplement System HW/SW componentsUse System Analysis ToolsPerform system performance tuningImplement and manage AIX system security
Position Requirements:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; and a minimum of 5 year’s administration/ management in a large scale Unix environment, specifically IBM/AIXExperience with IBM’s LPAR, HACMP, NIM and logical volume manager technologiesExperience working with the configuration and administration of AIX on a pSeriers server.Candidates must have experience in at least three of the following areas: AIX, Storage Area Networks, Shell scripting, logical partitioning.Experience with DB2 UDB on an AIX system is an assetGood understanding of AIX, storage architecture, and networkUNIX scriptingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamA working knowledge of DB2 architecture and related utilities and AIX platformCandidate must have the ability to quickly diagnose and fix critical server problems and react to user problems and requests in a timely and professional manner.Experience in the broadcast industry a plus
