We are seeking a Process Engineer (with Software Engineering focus)
Description:
We are looking for a process engineer experienced in leading continuous software improvement efforts across large organizations with an affinity toward data-driven business results. This person must be self-motivated and a team player. This team is responsible for establishing a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Person must possess good interpersonal and communication skills. This candidate will be working with a diverse array of very experienced, strong personalities. This position also requires interfacing with offshore development and test personnel.
- Experience with all aspects of the software development life cycle including areas such as requirement, planning, architecture, design, coding, test, delivery, support, and project management.
- Ability to interface with internal and external customers.
- Experience utilizing Lean practices and principles to eliminate “waste”
- Excellent coordination / project management skills are a must.
- Strong team problem solving capability.
- Experience working with global development teams is a plus.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- For the functions in the development organization, provide advice and support in the area of process improvement; help identify process improvement opportunities; mentor process improvement techniques; control and measure progress.
- Lead some cross functional project teams that will analyze process improvement needs and recommend plan of action for improvement.
- Define requirements for potential tools implementation related to process improvement and work in close collaboration with the Process Tools Development team for the development and implementation of such tools.
- Work and interact effectively with all different teams inside and outside the organization and maintain a high level of credibility and trust.
- Deliver presentations to report status and accomplishment on process improvement efforts and projects
- Evangelize continuous improvement progress and achievements; serve as a catalyst for improving all aspects of the organization toward business results.
- Keep abreast of relevant literature and research new technologies and techniques that might prove beneficial to the team and the organization.
Required:
BS / BA degree in Mathematics, CS, CE, EE or equivalent experience (5+ years)
Experience in the area of software development or process improvement-5 years
Certification and/experience in process improvement or project management program
Demonstrated experience delivering sustainable process improvements
Highly Desired:
MS Office suite, IE, MS Project
Applied knowledge of Lean Practices on Software Development Processes
Software Development and Software Engineering Best Practices experience
Software Quality Assurance
Six Sigma training and/or certification(s)
Value-Stream Mapping/Facilitation
Data query, data analysis and statistical tools (such as Minitab)
