Purchasing Assistant
SUMMARY:
Assists in the day to day operations of the materials department as directed by the Supply Chain Manager, inclusive of the acquisition of goods and services and maintains vendor information folders. Buyer of materials used in the production process, packaging products as well as incidentals. Compiles information and records used to prepare purchase orders.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager of ABC Window Company.
RESPONSIBILITY:
· Accomplishes various purchasing assignments that are fairly complicated in nature. Requires the ability to understand materials requirements and bills of material.
· Expedites deliveries and ensures that materials, equipment and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
· Compiles and verifies stock control records and inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, investigates discrepancies and adjusts errors. Uses this information to determine stock and replenishment requirements.
· Prepares and issues purchase orders and maintains appropriate files. Performs buying duties as necessary.
· Makes verification of defect and handles the return of materials to the vendor.
· Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and lead times.
· Interfaces with all departments to resolve purchasing problems or issues.
· Strictly adheres to and actively supports all environment health and safety policies and procedures.
· Performs other related duties as required.

· Knowledge of warehouse and inventory control procedures.
· Ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, prefer Associates Degree. Minimum two years related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities; computer literacy.
